Potapova faltered in many aspects. Although she hit 23 winners, she was undone by 45 unforced errors, almost double than that of Andreeva. She earned three breaks of serve, but was broken six times in two sets. Potapova was also tentative with her first and second serves, with a win percentage of 53.

Andreeva is now set to lock horns with Madison Keys, who beat Marta Kostyuk, in a bid to advance to her maiden Grand Slam quarters.

In the other women’s singles Round 4 match, Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova defeated her counterpart Marie Bouzkova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Court 1.

Bouzkova was excellent with her first serves, winning 81 percent of points (72 off 89) from them. She also hit 33 unforced errors, 11 fewer than her opponent. But Vondrousova outclassed her in the number of winners. While Bouzkova managed only 15, Vondrousova pulled off 37 of them.

Vondrousova is next scheduled to cross swords with No.4 seed Jessica Pegula, who defeated Lesia Tsurenko 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinal.
