We are moments away from the start of this Test match and for India’s tour of the West Indies to begin. Before that, the two sets of players and the match officials will line up on the ground for the national anthems. PITCH REPORT – Samuel Badree is pitchside and he says that there has been a bit of rain around here with the conditions looking overcast. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India says that they have had good preparation for a while. Adds that they played a practice game in Barbados and have been in Dominica for the last 4 days but rain played a bit of spoilsport. Informs that they are prepared for the Test match. Mentions that the World Test Championship final is a couple of years from now and in the last two cycles they have played consistent cricket so they can take that forward. Feels that with a couple of new guys in the squad, they can take the perspective from before and look forward but it will be a new challenge for them. Informs that he wants the debutants to enjoy and have a memorable experience over the next five days of Test cricket. Ends by saying that they have loads of potential and he hopes to give them the comfort to make the most of this opportunity.
Kraigg Brathwaite, the skipper of West Indies says that they will bat first. Adds that it looks a bit dry, but there is also some moisture and the first hour will be crucial. Tells that they had a long camp in Antigua and Brian Lara helped the youngsters with his experience. Says that their pacers and spinners had a good run in the practice game. Mentions that in the last cycle, they got them into good positions and it is about putting both batting and bowling together. Informs Alick Athanaze is making his debut.
