By India Today Sports DeskBabar Azam, on Sunday, February 27, failed to perform in Peshawar Zalmi’s match against the Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Babar started his knock with a four while opening the batting, but he couldn’t last long.

Babar was dismissed by left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who bowled an absolute peach. The speedster bowled one outside the off-stump and Babar went for a half-hearted drive. The ball swung back a wee bit and beat Babar all ends up.

Babar’s stumps went for a toss and Shaheen raised his hands to celebrate in joy and jubilation. While chasing 242, the Zalmi lost both their openers, Babar and Mohammad Haris, in pretty quick succession with their score at 28 in 2.5 overs.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, the Qalandars put up a huge score of 241 for the loss of three wickets. Fakhar Zaman, who earlier became the second batter after Babar to score 2000 runs in the PSL, smashed his way to 96 runs off 45 balls with the help of three fours and 10 sixes.

Fakhar and Abdullah Shafique put on 120 runs for the second wicket off 63 balls to lay the platform for the Qalandars. Shafique threw his bat around to score 75 runs off 41 balls with the help of five fours and as many sixes.

Sam Billings came to bat at No.4 and stayed unbeaten on 47 runs off 23 balls with five fours and three sixes. Arshad Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 4-0-28-0. Although the pacer failed to pick up a wicket, he didn’t allow the batters to get on top of him.
