By India Today Sports DeskArshdeep Singh picked up his maiden wicket for Kent after he dismissed Ben Foakes in the County Championship Division 1 match against Surrey at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury.

In the penultimate ball of the 22nd over, Arshdeep bowled one from over the wicket and angled the ball into the batter. Foakes was caught on the crease and was struck on the pads. Arshdeep and his teammates appealed in unison, after which the on-field umpire raised his finger.

His wicket reduced Surrey to 42 for the loss of five wickets in 21.5 overs. Earlier, Kent scored 301 in 82.2 overs after opting to bat first. Jordan Cox was their star performer as he scored 133 runs off 198 balls with 17 fours and two sixes. Joe Evison and Wes Agar also scored 58 and 51 respectively.

Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers for Surrey after he finished with impressive figures of 17-3-52-4. Jordan Clark and Gus Atkinson also picked up two wickets apiece. Dan Worrall and Dan Moriarty picked up one wicket apiece.

Thereafter, Matt Quinn and Agar accounted for three scalps apiece and reduced Surrey to 60 for seven in 27.4 overs. Arshdeep also didn’t allow the batters to score runs off him.

Arshdeep has grown leaps and bounds for India over the last 12 months since his debut on the 2022 tour of England. He also went on to play in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the T20 World Cup 2022 on Australian soil.
