After all, the extravagant fashion gala witnessed a bevy of spectacular fashion moments, a sweet reunion of ex-lovebirds (hello, Kim and Pete), some pregnancy announcements and a lot more. A new addition to this list is Selena Gomez’s graceful ‘red carpet appearance’ at the Met Gala 2023.

In the new pictures that are going crazy viral across social media platforms, the American singer and actress looks ravishing in a racy sheer gown adorned with blue pearls. “Selena Gomez did a surprise appearance at the Met Gala 2023,” a Twitter user wrote while sharing the photos.

But did Selena Gomez really attend Met Gala 2023? The answer is a stern no! The pictures doing the rounds of the internet are actually fake. It appears that the photoshopped pictures have Gomez’s face on actress Lily James’ 2022 Met Gala pictures, with the colour of her outfit edited to a different shade of blue.

The colour of the red carpet also rang the ‘fake photo’ alert, as it was in a beige colour this year. The Met Gala 2023 carpet, designed by Kerala-based brand Neytt by Extraweave, was not red at all (as shown in the photos above) and had striking blue and red lines on sublime beige expanse.

Moreover, Selena Gomez has not attended the Met Gala since 2018.
