Content creators, influencers, movie lovers, gamers, and a lot of other communities actively seek content on the video streaming platform that was launched back in 2005.

Elon Musk announces Twitter video app

Musk announced a Twitter video app while interacting with a user on the platform. When a Twitter user mentioned how there’s a need for a Twitter video app for Smart TVs since watching long videos on phone isn’t really feasible, Musk responded to his tweet and said, ‘It’s coming’.

“We really need a Twitter video app for Smart TVs. I’m not watching an hour long video on Twitter,” the user had written.

After Musk wrote ‘It’s coming’ in the comments, the user said that he is ‘appreciates’ the move and can ‘see a day where he cancels his subscription to YouTube’ and never look at it again.

Twitter allows long-form video content

Last month, Twitter allowed videos as long as 2 hours to be uploaded on the platform. As soon as the feature was rolled out, people started uploading films on the micro-blogging site. Even John Wick Chapter 4 had been leaked on Twitter just a couple of days after its release.

Not just that, Musk had also announced that in future, users will be able to watch a video while scrolling through the app and will also get the 15 second forward and back seek buttons while watching long videos. Even though Musk had promised these features about a month ago, we are yet to see them on the platform.

Twitter’s focus on video content

Meanwhile, according to a Reuters report, Twitter’s primary focus is now video, creator and commerce partnerships to ‘revitalize the social media company’s business beyond digital advertising’, as per an investor presentation accessed by the news agency.

Further, Twitter owner Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino reportedly told investors during a private call that the company is in ‘early conversations with political and entertainment figures, payments services and news and media publishers on potential partnerships’, according to a source. This was the first time that Yaccarino had given a presentation in front of the investors of the company.
