  • A win will push either teams in the middle of the league table
  • MI have concerns about Jofra Archer’s injury

By Kingshuk KusariSunrRisers Hyderabad are set to face Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday, 18 April. Both teams are coming off consecutive victories in the Indian Premier League and unfortunately, that streak will come to an end in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Both teams have found their mojo after a tough start in the ongoing edition of the tournament, winning their respective last games rather comfortably. Whoever wins this fixture will gain a major advantage in the middle of the table, and it is quite necessary for both of these teams, who at the moment have a horrendous Net Run Rate to against their names.

Previous Meeting

The only time SunRisers Hyderabad faced Mumbai Indians in the previous edition of the tournament, SRH defeated Rohit Sharma’s side by 3 runs. Rahul Tripathi was adjudged the player of the match for his sensational 76 off 44 balls in a high-scoring event.

Head to Head

SRH have faced MI in 19 occasions in the Indian Premier League. Mumbai hold a slight advantage with 10 victories, over SRH’s 9.

Injuries

This is a troublesome area for Mumbai who are struggling to keep their players fit at the moment. The main question will be on Jofra Archer, who has not played since MI’s first game. Rohit Sharma caught a stomach bug in the last game, but batted in the second innings. Maybe Mumbai will do the same.

Pitch Report

The Hyderabad pitch has been a belter to bat on this season. It has shown a tendency to slow down in the second innings in case dew does not fall. Overall, a good batting track can be expected.

Key Players

Mayank MarkandeThree of Mumbai’s top four batters have issues while facing spin bowling. It is possible that Aiden Markram brings in his spinners early today, to keep MI’s run-rate at check. Mayank Markande has shown that he can be tricky, and being a former Mumbai player helps going into the game as well.

Tilak VarmaThis young cricketer has already been touted as a next India player by Ravi Shastri. With tremendous ability against both pace and spin, Tilak can turn out to be a major difference-maker today.
