This homemade summer drink might help you deal with frizzy hair, mood swings and skin pigmentation

However, it is better you ditch them for a super-healthy and easy-to-make summer drink – Kulith Kalan. Made with the utterly nutritious kulith dal (horse gram), this drink brings along oodles of health benefits.

In a new Instagram post, celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar talked about the summer cooler Kulith Kalan and revealed that drinking it helps deal with break outs, acne marks, mood swings, frizzy hair and skin pigmentation. Intrigued to know more about it, already? Here you go.

“Here’s a drink that will resolve it all without a fuss – the humble Kulith Kalan. An easy-to-prepare drink that’s made with buttermilk, kulith (horse gram) and spices, it is traditionally used to keep the body cool in the hot summers,” Rujuta Diwekar wrote.

The drink is perfect for late nights, after parties, and is also a great alternative for the times when you don’t want to eat lunch. The nutritionist further added that this drink is loaded with the goodness of amino acids, polyphenols and good bacteria. “This nutrient-loaded drink is surprisingly light on the stomach too,” Rujuta Diwekar added.

The nutritionist suggested sipping on this drink “if the heat is making you feel bloated, irritating your skin and leaving you sleepless”.

To prepare Kulith Kalan, you will need:

Buttermilk (chaas)

Ghee

Jeera (cumin seeds)

Hing (asofetida)

Salt

Sugar

Green chillies

How to make Kulith Kalan?

– The first step is to pressure cook kulith dal for upto 5-6 whistles.

– Then, you need to transfer the upper water portion to a glass. Allow it to cool a bit.

– The next step is to heat ghee in a pan and add jeera, green chillies and a pinch of hing.

– Turn off the flame and after 2 minutes.

– In a vessel, mix the kulith water, the prepared temper and buttermilk. Give it all a good mix and sprinkle a bit of salt and sugar. Mix well and relish!
