By India Today Business DeskIndia’s largest IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has named its new CEO-designate after managing director and CEO Rajesh Gopinathan resigned four years ahead of the completion of his tenure.

The company has named its president and head of global financial services business Krithi Krithivasan as the CEO-designate, effective March 16.

Krithivasan will take over as the CEO and managing director in the next financial year, subject to shareholders’ approval.

“The Board has nominated K Krithivasan as the CEO Designate, with effect from 16th March 2023. Krithivasan will go through a transition with Rajesh Gopinathan and will be appointed as the Managing Director and CEO in the next financial year,” the company said in an exchange filing.

Who is K Krithivasan?

After joining TCS in 1989, Krithivasan held various leadership roles at the company, including delivery, relationship management and sales portfolios.

While Gopinathan’s resignation was not expected, Krithivasan’s appointment does not come as a surprise, given his 34 years of experience at the company.

Prior to his appointment, Krithivasan was the President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group at TCS.

Krithivasan is also a member of the Board of Directors of TCS Iberoamerica, TCS Ireland and the supervisory board of TCS Technology Solutions AG.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from IIT Kanpur.

According to Krithivasan’s profile on the TCS website, he has played an instrumental role in planning and executing growth strategies, improving financial performance, and enhancing customer mindshare and market positioning.

He has also helped key clients with digital transformation, change management cycle acceleration, achieving value beyond cost optimization, and establishing IT program governance.

“I don’t expect to see a great strategy change or organisational change coming in the immediate future,” Krithivasan said in a media call after the announcement.
