Suryakumar Yadav pokes fun at Akash Madhwal after 5-wicket haul vs LSGAb kya 10 wickets lega

By India Today Sports DeskSuryakumar Yadav poked fun at Akash Madhwal after he interviewed the fast bowler following Mumbai Indians’ (MI) 81-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Eliminator on Wednesday, May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

During the interview, Madhwal, who recorded the best figures in the history of the IPL playoffs, said that he wants to bowl better.

“I was working hard. These figures aren’t that great for me and I want to do even better,” Madhwal was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on IPL’s official website. Madhwal finished with figures of 3.3-0-5-5 as MI bowled the Super Giants out for 101 in 16.3 overs.

That’s when Suryakumar trolled Madhwal in a hilarious way. Yadav said, “Ab kya 10 wickets lega? (Do you intend to take 10 wickets?)”

“He is being modest now and wants to do better. He is saying that he wants to pick up 10 wickets but his spell today came at a time when the team needed it,” Suryakumar added.

Madhwal, in the meantime, said that he mostly focused on bowling hard lengths as suggested by skipper Rohit Sharma and it paid dividends big time.

“When I got the new ball, I thought of sticking to my strengths and bowling hard lengths. Rohit bhaiya also told me the same and said that I would get help from the surface. Me and bhaiya planned and discussed it at the hotel. Bhaiya told me about the conditions and what I should be doing. My mindset was clear,” Madhwal said.

Madhwal has been highly impressive in IPL 2023, having picked up 13 wickets from seven games. He also picked up a four-wicket haul against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
