The new GLC Coupe gets plug-in hybrid powertrains, a new look outside and an updated cabin.

By Auto TodayMercedes-Benz has revealed the new GLC Coupe. The SUV coupe, which is now in its second generation, dons a new look, updates to the exterior and new plug-in hybrid powertrains. The GLC Coupe will come to India in the latter part of this year.

While it carries the shape of the outgoing model, the new design for the headlamps and the sculpted bonnet means that the new one looks sportier. The headlamps are connected to the grille, which itself has a dark look with the standard Mercedes-Benz pattern. The rear gets new LED taillamps, and a pronounced lip at the end of the tailgate to improve the downforce. Compared to the older car, the new one is 31mm longer and 55m higher, standing at 4,763mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,699mm tall. The wheelbase too has been elongated by 15mm to 2,888mm. The front track width has also been increased by 6mm to 1,627mm while the rear has been increased by 23mm to 1,640mm.

New taillamps and bootlid.

Mercedes-Benz has given the SUV coupe an update for the cabin, which includes a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a portrait 11.9-inch infotainment display. The steering is new as well and so are the aircon vents. Features include a Burmester sound system with 15 speakers, a panoramic glass roof, HUD, and the use of higher-quality materials for the trim and seats.

New interiors with bigger and advanced displays.

The second-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe comes with 2.0-litre diesel and petrol engines. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol makes 204bhp in the GLC 200 4MATIC and 258bhp in the GLC 300 4MATIC. The 2.0-litre diesel makes 197bhp in the GLC 220d 4MATIC and 269bhp in the GLC 300d 4MATIC. There are three plug-in hybrid models as well which use a 136bhp electric motor, the GLC 300e 4MATIC which has 313bhp total output while the GLC 400e 4MATIC has a combined system output of 381bhp. The diesel hybrid variant, GLC 300de 4MATIC has a system output of 335bhp. The PHEVs come with an electric-only range of 119-131km.

The GLC Coupe comes with Airmatic air suspension with variable damping control and rear-wheel steering. There is an off-road package as well, with a dedicated off-road driving mode, downhill speed regulation and a 360-degree camera with a ‘transparent bonnet’ mode.

The second-gen GLC Coupe will reach India by the end of this year. Currently the GLC Coupe is priced at Rs 72.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GLC 300 and Rs 73.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GLC 300d.
