Last year, the Pixel 6a made its debut at Google I/O 2022 and its successor is expected to arrive at the upcoming developer conference of the company. While this will be a global launch, the mid-range Pixel 7a is also expected to make its debut in India as the company has unveiled all the phones in the Pixel-A series, except for the Pixel 5a. But, there is no official confirmation on the launch dates yet.

The Pixel 6a arrived in India in August last year, which is two months after its debut at Google I/O May 2022 event. The same could also happen this year too or the tech giant could decide to unveil it a little early in 2023. Having said that, should you wait for the Pixel 7a or buy Pixel 6a? Let’s find out.

The leaks so far have suggested that the Pixel 7a would be a major upgrade over the Pixel 6a smartphone. People who want a better and improved experience should wait for the new version. The leaks suggest that the Pixel 7a will have a slightly bigger battery, 90Hz display, Google’s new flagship chipset, and a better rear camera setup.

But, do keep in mind that the price of the new version will also be pretty much higher than the older one, at least in India. The rumour mill claims that Google has been offering its affordable phones at the same old prices and so, it could decide to increase the price of Pixel 7a by $50 compared to the Pixel 6a. To recall, the Pixel 6a was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 43,999, which is Rs 7,000 higher than the US market. Even if Google decides to offer the Pixel 7a at the old prices, there will be a huge price gap between them. The Pixel 6a is currently selling in India with a starting price of Rs 28,999 via Flipkart.

Though, the good thing for consumers is that the prices of the Pixel A series phone drop by a big margin just a few months after the launch of the phone. But, this also means that a user will have to wait for a very long time to buy the Pixel 7a at a lower price.

So, does that mean you should consider buying the Pixel 6a?

Well, if you can’t wait for a longer time and want to buy a Pixel phone at a lower price, then you can consider buying it. The Pixel 6a will offer you a great camera experience in its price range, fast enough general performance, and clean as well as fluid software experience with the latest Android OS. However, Google doesn’t bundle a charger in the retail box along with the smartphone and you will have to buy one separately.
