List phone launches in May 2023

Poco F5

The Poco F5 will launch in India on May 9, according to the details shared by the company. Poco has already confirmed that this 5G phone will feature a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC. The company is promoting it as a performance-oriented phone. The handset features a triple camera setup at the back. The rest of the details are unknown. The leaks suggest that the Poco F5 will pack a 6.67-inch AMOLED 120Hz display, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. It is tipped to be priced between Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000 in India.

Pixel 7a

The Pixel 7a is said to launch globally on May 10 at Google’s I/O event. The mid-range phone could be a major upgrade over the Pixel 6a smartphone, according to leaks. The rumour mill claims that the Pixel 7a will have a slightly bigger battery, 90Hz display, Google’s new flagship chipset, and a better rear camera setup. But, the price of the new version could also be pretty much higher than its predecessor, at least in India.

The rumour mill claims that Google has been offering its affordable phones at the same old prices and so, it could decide to increase the price of Pixel 7a by $50 compared to the Pixel 6a. To recall, the Pixel 6a was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 43,999, which is Rs 7,000 higher than the US market. Even if Google decides to offer the Pixel 7a at the old prices, there will be a huge price gap between them. The Pixel 6a is currently selling in India with a starting price of Rs 28,999 via Flipkart.

Though, the good thing for consumers is that the prices of the Pixel A series phone dropped by a big margin just a few months after the launch of the phone. But, this also means that a user will have to wait for a very long time to buy the Pixel 7a at a lower price.

Pixel Fold

The foldable market is already filled with a few good options and it is being said that Google is also preparing to explore this category. The search giant is tipped to launch its first foldable phone at its Google I/O event, which is set to start on May 10.

If leaks are to be believed, the Pixel Fold could have a 5.8-inch display when folded and a 7.6-inch screen when unfolded. It could be powered by Google’s flagship Tensor G2 chipset. It could come with a starting price of $1,700 (around Rs 1,39,830), which suggests that this will take on the likes of Samsung’s $1,800 (roughly Rs 1,48,050) Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Realme 11 Pro, Realme 11 Pro+

The Realme 11 Pro and Realme 11 Pro+ will be announced in May this year, which is something that the company has confirmed. The same handset is then expected to make it to India as well, but the official launch date is unknown. The new mid-range phones are tipped to pack a new MediaTek Dimesity 7000 chipset under the hood. It is also being said that we will get to see a 200-megapixel primary sensor at the back of the Realme 11 Pro+. This handset could pack a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 80W or 100W fast charging tech. The 11 Pro version might offer a different camera. It is said to feature a 108-megapixel primary camera at the rear panel. Under the hood, there could be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charge.

Samsung Galaxy F54

Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy F54 in India as the support for the same has gone live. The mid-range 5G phone could arrive sometime this month. It is being said that this will be a rebranded version of the Galaxy M54, which is already available in the global market. If this is the case, then the upcoming Samsung phone could come with a Exynos 1380 SoC, a 108-megapixel triple rear camera setup, a 6.7-inch AMOLED 120Hz display, a 6,000mAh battery and more.
