By Daphne ClarancePulling off gimmicks on the runway has become quite a regular sight for brands during fashion week. From Bella Hadid’s spray-on dress to models walking on muddy ramps while brand Balenciaga exhibited their display, labels have been taking their exhibit up a notch with each passing year.

In view of this, day one of Paris Fashion Week made headlines when a model strutted down the ramp enveloped in fire.

Danish brand Heliot Emil’s Paris Fashion Week exhibit was literally “on flames” as, during the Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023, a model, in a black outfit, was engulfed in actual flames while walking down the runway.

The brand, founded by brothers Julius and Victor Juul in 2016, presented an expansive FW23 collection in the south-west of the French capital. After making its fashion week debut in Milan, Heliot Emil garnered a lot of attention for being an experimental brand and pushing semantic dialogue within the creative industry. The brand is best known for unisex fashion.

During the Milan Fashion Week, luxury clothing brand Diesel showcased their new collection of denim garments with models walking around a mountain of condom boxes. In an effort to promote sex positivity, the brand created a mound of over 2,00,000 condom boxes as models were dressed in sheer denim and satin dresses with slinky chains.

Last year, at the Coperni show during Paris Fashion Week, a white dress was spray painted on supermodel Bella Hadid before she walked the runway. The entire process became a hit on the internet.
