Meta starts firing more people, impacted employees reveal around 5000 jobs affected this time

This is also pretty evident on Linkedln because employees who have been eliminated at Meta have reported about layoffs on this platform.

An employee who works as Creator Marketing at Instagram has also been eliminated from the company. She claimed on LinkedIn that 5,000 of her other colleagues have also been fired. This and several other posts suggest that the layoffs have been done at Instagram, Facebook and other services of Meta. While the official details on the number of layoffs done are unknown, Vox previously reported that 6,000 employees are supposed to be fired at Meta.

The latest round of layoff at Meta has been done in several departments, including ad sales, marketing, communications, and partnerships. All this is not surprising because Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg had already announced in March that 10,000 more employees would receive pink slips and explained that the tech company has to take this tough decision to save costs. It now seems that people are getting laid off.

First Meta layoff took place in November 2022

The social media company first announced 11,000 job cuts in November last year. This is about 13 percent of the company’s workforce. ‘This will be tough and there’s no way around that,’ Zuckerberg told employees.

Second round of Meta layoff started in March

Meta later announced the removal of 10,000 more jobs in March 2023. Meta, which is the parent company of Facebook, eliminated only 4,000 employees in the past few months, as per reports. Hence, it was expected to fire 6,000 more employees in May this year. But, a few employees are claiming different things on LinkedIn.

Third Meta layoff is now happening in May 2023

The fresh round of layoffs started earlier today. Thousands of Meta employees have expressed their disappointment about losing their jobs and even appreciated the skills set that they earned as well as the work that they did there. A few people have mentioned that they were waiting for their turn to get laid off at the company.
