Unveiled globally last year, the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC is larger than the car it replaces. Measuring 4,716mm in length, 2,075mm in width and 1,650mm in height the 2023 GLC is 60mm longer but is marginally lower and narrower. The wheelbase has been stretched by 15mm and now measures 2,888mm. The design is an evolution over the older car with a smoother look. The grille is larger while the Mercedes insignia is larger while the headlamps have been reprofiled. The LED taillamps sport a slimmer look and reworked detailing. The brand will ofcourse offer the more aggressive AMG-line cosmetic trim with the SUV.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC sports a revised cabin with a 12.3-inch driver display and an 11.9-inch central display. Other changes include the aircon vents and new steering. The overall quality of the materials have also been improved to heighten the sense of luxury and premiumness. The GLC will come with a host of premium features such as Burmester audio, panoramic sunroof, Head-up display, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable seats, seat ventilation, electrically controlled tailgate amongst others.

In terms of powertrains, the GLC is offered with plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains internationally, however, the India-spec car is expected to only offer the latter. There will be the GLC200 which uses a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 204bhp and 320Nm of torque and the GLC220d which uses a diesel engine.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to commence bookings for the second-gen GLC SUV and reveal pricing in the coming months.
