By Anagh BhaskarBritish high-performance automaker has revealed the new 750S. This is the successor to the 720S and is an upgrade in all aspects, be it the performance of the engine or the aerodynamic and mechanical grip.

The new McLaren 750S is available either as a coupe or a convertible. While the overall look follows the same theory as the older McLaren 720S, this shares only 30 per cent of components with the older model. In its lightest form with all the carbon fibre and weight-saving options included, the McLaren 750S weighs 1,277kg which is lighter than the 720S and even the 765LT.

The design is an evolution of the McLaren 720S

The convertible McLaren 720S Spider comes with a retractable hard top (RHT), rollover protection and a bespoke rear upper structure constructed from carbon fibre. The front bumper houses a larger splitter, larger air intakes and new slimmer LED headlamps. The rear wing has also grown in size, providing 20 per cent more surface area.

The rear gets a reworked single piece exhaust tip and a larger active aero wing.

While the car carries over the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, improvements mean that this produces 750bhp and 900Nm of torque. The lightweight combined with the powerful motor means that the McLaren 750S can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 2.8 seconds. The acceleration is courtesy of optimised transmission gearing. The enhancements include a new triple-layer gasket, twin fuel pumps, higher-pressure turbos, lighter pistons and a new exhaust.

The McLaren 750S comes with McLaren Proactive Chassis Control. The suspension itself is softer at the front and stiffer at the rear compared to the setup in the 750S, improving ride comfort, roll control, steering feedback and cornering balancing. The front track is 6mm wider.

Progressive changes have been made to the cabin to make it more premium and engaging for the driver.

The cabin of the McLaren 750S comes wrapped in luxurious materials but has been tweaked to provide an improved driver-focused environment. There is a new instrument display which moves along with the steering column, providing optimum display angles to driver irrespective of the steering adjustment while the steering wrapped in Alcantara is devoid of any buttons to reduce distractions for the driver. The drive mode and handling mode controls are located on either sides of the binnacle which can be accessed without removing ones hands from the steering.

The digital instrument cluster moves along with the steering column.

McLaren provides customers with the option for a track brake upgrade which uses ceramic discs and monoblock calipers derived from the McLaren Senna. Also offered as an option are lightweight carbon fibre racing seats, titanium wheel bolts and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres.
