By Daphne ClaranceIf you ever thought that a gajra was limited to ethnic looks, then Masaba Gupta can prove you wrong. The fashion designer made a stylish appearance at Dior’s Fall 2023 collection launch at Mumbai’s Gateway of India, on Thursday, sporting a gajra with a rather non-ethnic attire.

Masaba Gupta was photographed at the luxury brand’s first-ever fashion show in India wearing a textured voluminous skirt with a matching black tube top with a cropped jacket.

Her skirt had knotted detailing and a textured silhouette that complemented the short grunge jacket with quarter sleeves. Adding a dainty effort to the look was Masaba’s pointy heels.

But putting a spin to the ebony approach with bling were her accessories. She wore a statement choker necklace with diamond studs and a metallic watch. This was Masaba’s Dior look that had an applause-worthy appeal.

The highlight of her look was the stunning bun decorated with gajra. Historically, gajras were an important accessory used by brides and were a part of the ‘solah shringaar’. This ethnic flower garland is a huge part of Hindu weddings that many times, translates into everyday traditional attire.

Masaba seamlessly channeled her Indian roots into her skirt-jacket ensemble with the gajra that was an instant hit. Her fans praised her as she rocked the look like a diva.

Giving the designer’s choice of pairing a gajra with her outfit a thumbs up, a fan wrote, “You rock the gajra, girl.” Another echoed similar feelings, “Who knew that gajra could go so well with this look?”
