Maruti leads export race, ahead of Hyundai & Kia in Q1 FY24


Maruti, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen and Nissan were the top five PV exporters from India in the June quarter.

Maruti currently exports 17 models.

By India Today Auto DeskMaruti Suzuki India is leading the passenger vehicle (PV) export race in FY24 with more shipments than those of Hyundai Motor India and Kia India combined during the first quarter.

While Maruti exported 62,857 units in the June quarter, Hyundai and Kia shipped 35,100 units and 22,511 units, respectively. Cumulatively, the Korean cousins exported 57,611 units, according to data from the industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Maruti currently exports 17 models, including the Swift, Baleno, Dzire, Brezza and Grand Vitara, to nearly 100 countries across Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. It recently started the exports of the Fronx.

Maruti was also the largest exporter of PVs from India in FY22 and FY23 at 235,670 units and 255,439 units, respectively. It achieved handsome export numbers on the back of the addition of more models and support from the parent firm, Suzuki Motor Corporation, which enabled Maruti to leverage a wider distribution network across the globe.

Volkswagen India was the fourth largest PV exporter in Q1 FY24 at 7,433 units and was followed by Nissan India with 5,928 units. The other carmakers collectively exported 18,327 units.

The total PV exports from India during the April-June period stood at 152,156 units.
