As reported by a Brazilian website R1, Rocha went for a swim during a tour in Buzios when he misplaced his Apple Watch. He revealed that his strap slipped from his wrist when he was swimming under water. “My watch fell into the water, came off my wrist and I just lost hope,” he said. Rocha did try to find his Apple Watch but could not find it. However, he then used the Find My app to locate his watch and interestingly he was able to spot his watch lying underwater.“This watch has GPS, it’s water-resistant. But I didn’t know it was so resistant.” Even though the watch had died, Rocha got a notification from the Find My app saying that the watch has been turned on.

Rocha then turned on the Lost Mode and then entered some of the information related to him. Soon he received a message from 16-year old girl on Instagram saying that she had found the Apple Watch. “The daughter of the man who found the Apple Watch texted me and asked if I was in Bºzios, that they had found the watch, and her father wanted to return it,” said Rocha. The watch was found by a 50-year-old diver, who was the father of the 16-year-old girl, who takes care of a coral park and always collects lost items to return them to their owners.

The diver named Fiho told the publication that he did not expect the Apple Watch to be working when he found it. However, since his daughter also has an Apple Watch, he plugged the device to the charger and waited for it start. To much of his surprise, the Apple Watch started and showed the Find My app message. “I asked my daughter to handle the return process so that she could learn about being honest,” the diver mentioned.

The diver returned the Apple Watch to Rocha, who was happy to find the watch in working condition after being under the sea for a couple of days.
