By Anupam MishraNoted litterateur Dr Krishna Bihari Mishra passed away on March 7 in Kolkata. He wasn’t keeping well for a long time and returned home from the hospital after a month on March 6, his eldest son Kamalesh Mishra said.

Dr Krishna Bihari Mishra is the author of Kalpataru ki Utsavleela, an autobiographical work based on the life of Ramakrishna Paramahansa. He is one of the leading essayists in the Hindi language and is known for his endeavours in Hindi journalism as well. Krishna Bihari Mishra was awarded a Padma Shri for his literary contribution.

His eldest son said early in the morning that his “dad is no more” and that at midnight, around 12:30 am – 1 am, he breathed his last.

“For a month, he was in the hospital due to health problems and returned home only on March 6,” he said.

In November last year, he was awarded the Sanskriti Saurabh Samman. He was 90 years old. He is survived by four sons and two daughters. Dr Krishna Bihari Mishra has left behind a priceless legacy of his research and writings.
