The Kia Seltos is one of the most popular SUVs sold in India.

By India Today Auto DeskThe Kia Seltos has breached a significant mark so far as volumes are concerned. It has crossed over 500,000 units in sales since its launch in August 2019, becoming the fastest mid-size SUV to do so.

While Kia India has sold over 364,115 units of the Seltos in the domestic market, the carmaker has exported more than 135,885 units of the vehicle to nearly 100 markets, including the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, Mexico and Asia-Pacific.

The Seltos has contributed 55% to Kia India’s net sales, including exports and domestic sales consumption. In the first quarter of 2023, the mid-size SUV garnered total volumes of about 27,159 units.

According to several media reports, Kia India is gearing up to introduce the 2023 Kia Seltos facelift in July.

The Kia Seltos takes on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor. It will soon have a new rival in the form of the Honda Elevate. It is priced between Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

The mid-size SUV has two engine options — 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel. The petrol unit develops 115PS of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque and can be paired with a 6-speed MT or an IVT automatic. The diesel unit churns out 116PS of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque and can be clubbed either with a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed AT. There is no manual transmission with the diesel engine and a 6-speed iMT is standard.

Earlier, the Kia Seltos had a 1.4-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine as well. However, it was discontinued earlier this year.
