“I’m very thankful to God for my first fifty in five years of playing the IPL. It was an enjoyable knock and I hope to continue on like this,” said Prabhsimran.

He went on to say that Dhawan supported him throughout his innings and urged him to play his natural game and express himself against RR. The two batters put up a 90-run stand for the first wicket, with Dhawan going on to remain unbeaten on 86 runs off 56 balls.

“Shikhar Dhawan asked me if he should take strike since I had never faced Trent Boult before but I told him that I’ll take the strike. He backed me throughout my innings. Whenever we spoke to each other while batting, he told me to play your natural game and express yourself, the rest I’ll handle,” Prabhsimran added.

When asked about the secret to his amazing start to the 2023 IPL, Prabhsimran said there are no secrets but a lot of preparation that’s gone through. The 22-year-old scored 22 runs off 16 balls against KKR and topped it up with his first IPL fifty against RR.

“There are no secrets (to his recent consistency) but there’s a lot of preparation around my fitness, batting and wicket-keeping. I try and practice in the nets just like I would in a match,” said Prabhsimran.

After winning their opening two matches, Punjab Kings will set their attention to SRH, with the two sides set to lock horns on April 9.
