The latest move suggests that the tech giant is gradually increasing its production in India and diversifying its supply chain away from China. The cited source also claims that Apple has already started making casings for the ‌iPhone 15‌ in India with the help of local suppliers like Jabil, which already assembles AirPods in the country.

It even plans to manufacture Apple Pencil in the near future. However, the other models, including the iPhone 15‌ Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max will be produced exclusively in China only, for now.

There are reports claiming that Apple has been dealing with some quality control issues in regards to some Indian suppliers, and so the company has reportedly limited manufacturing to certain models and color options.

Apple has been assembling iPhones in India for a very long time now, but the company started the manufacturing process of the devices in the country a few months back. This is something that Apple was mostly doing in China and it recently moved some of its business to a different region as part of its plan to diversify from one market, as per reports.

China is one of the biggest manufacturing markets for Apple, but the company realised that it shouldn’t be dependent on one market for the production of its devices, as per several reports. In the recent past, violent protests took place at Apple’s Zhengzhou factory in China as workers were not happy about wages, which reportedly sabotaged the company’s production cycle. There were also some Covid-19 restrictions in China and other issues that forced the tech giant to explore other regions to avoid hampering the production of devices.

Now that the iPhone 15 is being manufactured in India, does that mean the price of the device will be cheaper than iPhone 14, which is selling on Apple Store for Rs 79,990? Well, Apple has been producing iPhones in the country for sometime now but has never really reduced the price of the phone. Hence, it isn’t expected to offer the latest iPhone 15 smartphone at a lower price. However, there are chances that we could see some discount offers on online platforms in the coming time. We will get clarity on all this in the coming months. The iPhone 15 series is expected to launch in September this year if we go by previous launches. So, we are still pretty far away from the launch event.
