Going into Day 5 of the Test, Kraigg Brathwaite’s West Indies needed 269 runs to win while India needed eight wickets.

The drawn Test meant that India won the series 1-0. But now they have to look at the result of the fourth Ashes Test between Australia and England as far as rankings are concerned. For India to retain the No.1 ranking in Tests, Australia should not win the final Test, starting July 27 at the Kennington Oval in London.

SIRAJ, KISHAN STAR FOR INDIA

The first four days of the Trinidad Test saw some exceptional performances, particularly from Indian players Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, and Ishan Kishan.

Virat Kohli, India’s run-machine, marked his 500th international appearance with a stunning century in the first innings. This was his first overseas ton in five years, further solidifying his status as one of the finest cricketers of his generation. His performance was a testament to his dedication, hard work, and the sacrifices he has made throughout his career.

Mohammed Siraj also shone brightly on the field, bagging a brilliant five-wicket haul on Day 4. His exceptional bowling skills played a crucial role in wrapping up the West Indies’ innings in just 7.2 overs on the fourth day. His performance was instrumental in giving India a significant lead in the first innings.

Ishan Kishan, who batted at No.4 instead of Kohli, scored a blazing 34-ball 52, his maiden half-century knock. His explosive batting style added to India’s dominance in the game. Kishan revealed that it was Kohli who backed him to bat at No.4 and play his natural game, showcasing Kohli’s selfless leadership style.

However, the weather was a constant challenge throughout the match. Rain played hide and seek, causing multiple delays and interruptions. Despite the rain, the Indian team has shown great resilience and determination. The covers were frequently brought on and off the pitch due to the unpredictable weather, causing uncertainty about the resumption of play.
