Hyundai Alcazar 2023 launchedNew turbo petrol engine, enhanced safety

By India Today Auto DeskHyundai Motor India has launched the Hyundai Alcazar 2023. Bookings for the updated 6/7-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) opened late last month for a token amount of Rs 25,000. It gets an all-new 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine and some new features.

The major attraction in the Hyundai Alcazar 2023 is the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine, which develops 160PS of maximum power and 253Nm of peak torque. The engine can be paired either with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. For customers preferring the diesel option, there is the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel mill, which produces 116PS of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque. The diesel unit can be clubbed either with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT torque converter.

Both engines comply with the upcoming real driving emission (RDE) norms and are E20 fuel-ready. The Hyundai Alcazar mileage is claimed to be 17.5kmpl for the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol MT and 18kmpl for the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol DCT. Hyundai has axed the 2.0-litre MPi petrol motor (159PS and 191Nm) from the Alcazar line-up.

Apart from the new engine, the Hyundai Alcazar 2023 gets a new grille. Hyundai has also upgraded the puddle lamp logo, which now features the ‘ALCAZAR’ emblem. The SUV now has six airbags (driver, passenger, side and curtain) as standard. Another feature that has been made standard is idle stop and go.

The Hyundai Alcazar 2023 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol is available in four variants — Prestige, Platinum, Platinum(O) and Signature(O). Below are their prices (ex-showroom).

• Prestige MT 7-seater – Rs 16.75 lakh
• Platinum MT 7-seater – Rs 18.65 lakh
• Platinum(O) DCT 7-seater – Rs 19.96 lakh
• Signature(O) DCT 7-seater – Rs 20.25 lakh
• Platinum(O) DCT 6-seater – Rs 19.96 lakh
• Signature(O) DCT 6-seater – Rs 20.25 lakh
