By Ankita ChakravartiAfter laying off employees in large numbers, Meta to began hiring for select rules by May. Meta, over the past few months, have taken many aggressive steps to cut costs, which majorly involved getting rid of employees.

The first round of 11,000 job cuts took place in November 2022, followed by the second round of 10,000 layoffs announced in March 2023. This restructuring is part of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for a “year of efficiency” and the company’s efforts to become more efficient so that they can build better products faster and put themselves in a stronger position for long-term success.

In a statement, Zuckerberg acknowledged that the layoffs have been a difficult process but noted company will have a more stable environment for employees. “So far we’ve gone through two of the three waves of restructuring and layoffs that we had planned for this year – in our recruiting and technical groups. In May, we’re going to carry out our third wave across our business groups” Zuckerberg said during the company’s earnings conference call on April 26, as per MoneyControl. So people in recruiting and technical teams can send their resumes to Meta.

These cost-cutting measures were necessary due to slow advertising demand resulting from a tough macroeconomic climate, the significant impact of Apple’s iOS privacy restrictions on the social networking giant’s advertising business.

Meta made more money in the first few months of 2023 compared to the same time last year. This is because more people are using their apps every day, with over 3 billion people using them in March 2023. Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s leader, thinks that they can make their work better by hiring fewer people, organizing things differently, and focusing more on technology. They plan to hire more people in certain areas like artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

At the end of the first quarter, they had about 77,000 employees, which is fewer than they had before. But the company said this is because they want to make sure they have the right people for the job. They plan to hire more people in areas that are important to them. These include things like making their ads better, improving the technology behind their apps, and creating new things like virtual reality.

The company thinks they will need to hire a few more people in the next year, but not too many. They want to make sure they can keep making money and growing, but they also want to be careful.
