MG Comet EV vs Tata NanoDimensions compared, results are shocking

By India Today Auto DeskMG Motor India has unveiled the MG Comet EV. Going by the technical specifications, including dimensions, leaked online, the electric car does seem small on paper. However, is it smaller than the long-gone Tata Nano? Let us find out.

The MG Comet EV is 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width and 1,631mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2,010mm. Coming to the Tata Nano, it was 3,164mm long, 1,750mm wide and 1,652mm tall. It had a 2,230mm long wheelbase.

Surprisingly, the Tata Nano is bigger than the MG Comet EV in all aspects. From the outside, MG’s affordable three-door electric model no doubt looks small. But it remains to be seen how the company has utilised the space inside the car.

As per the leaked data, the MG Comet EV has a 42PS/110Nm electric motor paired with a 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery. Using a 3.3kW charger, the battery can be juiced up from 0-100% in 7 hours and 10-80% in 5 hours. The MG Comet EV range is reportedly 230km on a single full charge.

The MG Comet EV is built on SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform. Among the prominent features are LED headlamps, LED taillamps, 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Apple iPod-inspired twin-spoke multi-function steering wheel.

The MG Comet EV launch in India will happen on April 26. The MG Comet EV price is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
