California State rewards Kolkata artist for paintings on Indian mythology

Choudhury has received the prestigious certificate of recognition from the California State Legislature Assembly and it is a major showcase of the mythological art that is prevalent in the country.

“I am honoured and humbled to receive the much coveted Certificate of Recognition from the California State Legislature Assembly for contributing my Art form and genre in the district. I am a second generation artist working on ‘Kolkata Kalighata School of Art’ on Indian Mythology and have managed to take this art form to different parts of California and other parts of the United States of America. A real patriot, I am honoured to be provided with an opportunity to showcase India, through Art and mythology,” Choudhury told IndiaToday.in.

Choudhury’s works display bold brush strokes and three vibrant yet basic colours – blue, red and yellow. “I have always been fascinated by the wild and bold colours, hence the use of blue, yellow and red in my pieces. These three colours have their own individuality. They all co-exist,” the artist had explained in an exclusive interview.
