Even in high security, it was tough for Shakib to stay clear of fans. Just when he was about to get inside his car, one of the fans, allegedly, tried to take the cap away from the veteran all-rounder, reported by Channel 24. Shakib was furious and he beat up the fan with his cap.

Shakib has been at the forefront of a number of controversies over the last couple of years. During the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023, Shakib charged at the leg umpire for not giving an overhead wide.

Back in 2021, Shakib was furious with the umpire during the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), after which he kicked the stumps and smashed them on the ground in anger. Shakib was also handed a ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) back in 2019 for not reporting corrupt approaches to the apex board.

As far as his on-field exploits are concerned, Shakib became only the third cricketer to score 6000 runs and pick up 300 wickets in ODIs after Shahid Afridi and Sanath Jayasuriya.

After Bangladesh beat England in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, Shakib also equaled Mahmudullah’s tally of most wins by a Bangladesh captain in T20Is.

Shakib is next expected to take the field in the second T20I on Sunday, March 12 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
