A Reddit user appreciated the Apple product and shared the story on the platform to let people know how useful the device was for her mother. The user wrote that her mother was on a business trip in Florida’s Fort Lauderdale and was residing at a hotel for some time. This is when she started experiencing pain in the chest and she texted her friend to come to the room.

When her friend came into the room, the user’s mother was lying on the floor. So, she immediately tried to call an ambulance and discovered that it is already on its way as the watch made a call to emergency services by dialling 911. At the hospital, it was reported that the situation of the lady was very “bad that it took an insane set of circumstances for her to make it through.” The Apple Watch was able to help because it summoned assistance after it detected no movement from her.

”I see stories like this sometimes and think that they are exaggerated for publicity or possibly just made up. I obviously no longer think this. Apple technology has a firm grip on me and my entire family already but this… this was something else. This made me an Apple user for life and showed me that technology like this can truly save lives,” the user wrote on Reddit.

How Apple Watch’s fall detection feature works?

If your Apple Watch detects that you’re immobile (motionless) for about a minute, it begins a 30-second countdown, while tapping you on the wrist and sounding an alert. The alert gets louder, so that you or someone nearby can hear it. If you don’t want to call emergency services, tap Cancel. When the countdown ends, your Apple Watch automatically contacts emergency services as well as your emergency contacts.

How to enable Fall Detection feature on Apple Watch?

Step 1: Open the Watch app on your iPhone, and tap on the ‘My Watch’ tab.

Step 2: Now, tap on Emergency SOS.

Step 3: Turn Fall Detection on or off. If Fall Detection is on, you can select ‘Always on’ or ‘Only on during workouts.’

Is all Apple Watches compatible with the feature?

The Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 or later version can detect a hard fall to help connect you to emergency services if needed, according to the details shared by Apple website.
