The hero for Mumbai, Tilak Varma is up for a chat. He says that his plan was to take his time and get used to the conditions. Bangalore will be delighted with their bowling effort as they know that on this ground bowlers struggle a bit. However, a concern for them would be the shoulder injury of Reece Topley who could not finish his spell due to that. Karn Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets while everyone else who bowled got a wicket to their name except Glenn Maxwell. They will be disappointed a bit as they conceded a bit too many in the death overs.
Mumbai did not get going at all in the Powerplay as they lost three wickets. Skipper Rohit Sharma was given a life, but he couldn’t make the most of it. Suryakumar Yadav also got out cheaply, but Tilak Varma fought like a warrior with some help from debutant, Nehal Wadhera as both of them added 50 runs together before the latter was dismissed. Verma continued to chip in with runs while losing partners at the other end. He ended up on an unbeaten 84, and some lusty blows in the end from Arshad Khan took them to a decent total.
It was a sweet homecoming for Bangalore until the Tilak Varma storm arrived. He has played an extraordinary knock of 84 runs off just 46 balls to give some hope to Mumbai. However, Bangalore will still be the happier side going into the break as this ground is known for big scores.
