Earlier this month, Honda Cars India launched the City 2023, and on March 21, Hyundai Motor India will introduce the Verna 2023. For a very long time now, the City and the Verna have been jostling for supremacy in the mid-size sedan space. Here is how the two cars fare against each other.
Hyundai Verna 2023 vs Honda City 2023Price
We are expecting the Hyundai Verna 2023 price in India to be in the range of Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The old Verna was priced between Rs 9.64 lakh and Rs 15.72 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the other hand, the Honda City 2023 price starts at Rs 11.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both cars do not have a diesel engine now.
Talking about the Verna, it has 1.5-litre MPi petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engines. The transmission options include 6-speed MT and IVT automatic with the MPi petrol mill, and 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT automatic with the Turbo GDi petrol mill.
On the other hand, the City has a 1.5-litre VTEC DOHC petrol engine, which can be paired either with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed CVT. Then, there is the hybrid variant with a self-charging, two-motor, lithium-ion battery, e-CVT system connected to the 1.5-litre Atkinson-Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine.

The Verna is now wider than the City and has a longer wheelbase. When it comes to width, the Korean measures 1,765mm as against 1,748mm of the Japanese. Also, the Korean has a 2,670mm long wheelbase as against 2,600mm of the Japanese.
However, the City is longer and taller than the Verna. The Japanese measures 4,583mm in length and 1,489mm in height. In comparison, the Korean is 4,535mm in length and 1,475mm in height.
Also, the Verna has a bigger boot than the City. The Verna has a 528-litre boot, while the City has a 506-litre boot.
