However, the young Italian saved 3 break points and won the game. He seems to be fired up to give it a go and not go away in straight sets. 

A comfortable hold for Novak Djokovic as he makes it 1-1. Jannik Sinner came up with an improved second set but he is yet to break Djokovic’s serve. Now there will be pressure on his sserve as Djokovic would love another early break. The unforced errors from the young Italian are not stopping. 

An ace at the start of the game and an ace to finish it. Djokovic has won the second set of the men’s singles semi-finals here at the Centre Court. Just one more win to reach yet another Grand Slam final for one of the greatest players in the history of tennis.

There is some life left in the game. Jannik Sinner holds his serve once again and is now trailing 4-5 in the second set. He will have to break Djokovic in the next one to keep this set alive.

Jannik Sinner fails to capitalise on the momentum and gives up the game. Sinner commits four unforced errors in the game and Djokovic now leads 5-3. It will take some doing for Sinner to pull back this set now.

Jannik Sinner struggled at the start of the game and went 15-40 down, but showed great mental resilience to turn things around. Sinner forced Djokovic into two unforced errors and to finish it off served an ace to take the game from the Serbian star.

Jannik Sinner has upped his game but that’s still not enough to break Novak Djokovic’s serve. The Serb had an argument with the chair umpire over a call, but he has not let his focus slip. The finish line seems to be nearer to Djokovic at the moment. The London crowd is willing Sinner on, but it looks tough for the young Italian at the moment. 

There is a sense of shock in Jannik Sinner’s camp. Last year in the quarter-final, Sinner took two sets off Djokovic before the Serb bounced back. However, Djokovic has not given an inch to his younger opponent today. He has broken early in the second set to go 2-1 up.

Jannik Sinner needs a response now. It might be too late if he goes down 2-0. 

Novak Djokovic takes the opening set 6-3 in just 42 minutes. He converted a break point and that was enough to race through to a 1-0 lead in this men’s singles semi-final. In his 46th Grand Slam semi-final, the Serb has looked flawless. Top-class from the Serb against Sinner, who is facing the heat in his maiden Grand Slam semi-final.

Sinner did not lag behind much in the first serve and the second serve points won but there were marginally more unforced errors from the 21-year-old Italian. 

Can he bounce back in the second set? 

Novak Djokovic looked shaky in the first service game of the men’s singles semi-final. He faced a break point early as Jannik Sinner came out all guns blazing. However, after surviving the scare early, it’s been one-way traffic from Novak Djokovic at the Center Court so far. 

Djokovic has raced to a 5-2 lead and has Sinner serving to stay in the set. This is top class from the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

Following his victory over Holger Rune in the last-8 stage, Alcaraz expressed his elation at reaching the semi-finals, describing it as a dream come true since he first picked up a tennis racket. The young Spaniard, who is accustomed to playing on clay and hard courts, credited his exceptional performance on grass to the excellent level he has attained.

“It’s amazing for me, a dream since I started playing tennis. It’s a dream to be able to play a semi-final here,” said Alcaraz, who will face Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals. “I am playing at a great level, I didn’t expect to play such a great level on this surface. For me, it is crazy,” added the Spaniard who has been more at home on clay and hard courts.

Meanwhile, the top seed, Carlos Alcaraz, will attempt to deny Djokovic his goal and retain his number one ranking. However, he must first navigate a tough opponent in Daniil Medvedev, the Russian third seed and a first-time Wimbledon semi-finalist.

Alcaraz has displayed remarkable progress, winning the Queen’s Club crown despite his limited experience on grass. He continued his impressive form with a straight-sets victory over Holger Rune in the previous round. To overcome Medvedev, who has already secured five titles in 2023, Alcaraz will need to showcase his best tennis.

Novak Djokovic is on a mission to claim his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title and his eighth overall, matching Roger Federer’s record haul. He will face a formidable opponent, Jannik Sinner, in the semi-finals on Friday, aware of the threat the young Italian poses.

The 36-year-old Djokovic has been in exceptional form throughout the tournament, despite being pushed to four sets by Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev in the previous rounds. However, he knows that Sinner has vastly improved since their quarter-final clash last year, where Djokovic narrowly escaped defeat.
