Apple’s next-gen iPhone 15 may launch in another two months if we consider previous launch timelines. Since the last three iPhones – iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 offer more or less similar specifications, expectations this year are quite high. Based on a series of leaks, we can expect the upcoming vanilla iPhone to get improved cameras, a new chipset, and some design moderations. Additionally, Apple is also expected to add an upgraded 7nm UWB (ultra-wideband) chip on the iPhone 15 for seamless integration with its newly launched AR/VR headset, Apple Vision Pro.

Here are five changes we are positively expecting on iPhone 15.

DisplayThe iPhone 15 may continue to offer the same viewing area of 6.1 inches, similar to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, but this year, the company may introduce a dynamic island notch on the vanilla model. This notch design was introduced last year on iPhone 14 Pro models, and it can adjust shape and size based on the notification. It could also mean that Apple might introduce display features like 120Hz refresh and always-on-display, which are available on many Android counterparts.

ProcessorLast year, iPhone 14 came with the A15 Bionic SoC — the same chipset on the iPhone 13. Only 14 Pro models received a new A16 Bionic chipset. This year, the iPhone 15 will likely include an A16 SoC. A new processor could mean better battery performance and camera features.

CamerasSpeaking of cameras, the iPhone 15 may continue to include a dual camera system, but the main camera could be a 48-megapixel camera sensor. A larger sensor generally leads to more lights, which means better colours. The images and videos may also appear sharper.

DesignWhile the iPhone 15 may continue to feature a flat design similar to the last three iPhones, the edges might have a rounder corner. The iPhone 15 may also include a USB-C port instead of the lightning port for charging.

Ultra-widebandRecently, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 15 might include a 7nm UWB band instead of the 16nm U1 chip Apple has been using since iPhone 15. UWB is crucial for features like Handoff, AirTag tracking with Find My, and AirDrop to work. It also helps the iPhone interact and communicate with other Apple products for seamless integration. However, this year, Apple is planning to upgrade the chip for smoother communication with the Apple Vision Pro headset.
