By India Today Sports DeskEngland pacer Stuart Broad said that he was aiming to get one more wicket on day four as his fiery spell saw Australia at 107/3 at the close of play on Monday at Edgbaston.

The hosts had put on 273 runs on the board after starting the day in an aggressive manner with Joe Root taking the charge. Root also got support from Harry Brook as both men scored 46 runs each with England putting on 127 in the first session.

Australia would bounce back after lunch as they restricted England and set up the target to chase with Pat Cummins picking up four wickets. Australia got off to a good start as David Warner and Usman Khawaja put on 61 runs for the first wicket. Ollie Robinson sent Warner back to the pavilion and it seemed like Marnus Labuschange and Khawaja would help Australia finish strongly.

But Broad had other plans as he got Labuschagne and the big wicket of Steve Smith with the visitors forcing to bring out Scott Boland as the night watchman. The Aussies still need 174 runs to win the match.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the day’s play, Broad said he was looking to get one more wicket before the end of the day’s play and thought Khawaja and Boland did well to see off the threat.

The England pacer said that there is a feeling that something can happen if they can get the crowd on their side.

“I wanted one more tonight really, the ball was just moving a nice amount but those two scrapped really well at the end, I thought.

“It feels like if you can bash away, not much is happening, then one moves.”

“Coming into that, if I can just whack the pitch as hard as I can and create a bit of movement and theatre.

“If you can get the crowd going and create a bit of theatre, you can almost feel like something is happening when it is not,” said Broad.

Broad ended the day with figures of two for 28.
