Hyundai standardizes 3-point seatbelt and safety reminder for all models


The Korean brand has made new safety features standard across its lineup in India.

By Anagh BhaskarHyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced that the company has made safety features including 3-point seatbelts and seat belt reminders for all standard seats across its lineup. The brand currently sells twelve models in India, starting from the Grand i10 Nios to the Ioniq 5.

Commenting on the announcement, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India, said, “Customer safety is our utmost priority and we have been the forerunners in standardization of safety features. At Hyundai, we are committed to consistently elevate the safety standards of our product line-up and thus, in-sync with Indian Government’s direction, we have upgraded our full range model line-up with 3-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder for all seats as standard offering. We firmly believe that Safety feature standardization will offer superior protection for our customers.”

The brand has taken some important steps in 2023. While the Hyundai Tucson and the Hyundai Kona were available with six airbags as standard, the offering was extended to the Creta, Alcazar and Ioniq 5 models as well. Hyundai is also offering four airbags on large volume variants of the Venue, with six airbags optional. The Grand i10 Nios and the Aura come with 4 airbags as standard. The recently launched Verna too comes with 6 airbags as standard.

In the last round of updates, which included the RDE-compliant engines, Hyundai also added some active and passive safety features.

Hyundai is offering Smart Sense Level-2 ADAS on the Tucson, Ioniq 5 and Verna. The brand says that ADAS features will further be extended to other models as well. The brand’s popular SUVs – Creta and Alcazar,

have also been updated with ESC, vehicle stability management, Hill Start assist and rear disc brakes.
